Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

hunt.discount is operated by inkOfPixel Srl, Piazza Castello 26, 20121 Milano, Italy (VAT IT09287730965), which is the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can reach us about anything on this page at [email protected].

The short version: the site is built to work without knowing who you are, and most people will never give us a single piece of personal information.

2. What we collect, and why

2.1 Browsing, voting and submitting without an account

Searching, browsing, voting on codes and submitting codes all work without registering. To make voting possible without an account we create an anonymous record on your first visit and store its identifier in a signed cookie. Alongside it we record the IP address and browser user agent of the session, which we use to prevent spam and vote manipulation.

This anonymous record is not linked to a name or an email address, and we do not use it to build a profile of you or to track you across other websites.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in running the service and protecting it from abuse.

2.2 Registered accounts

Registering is optional. If you choose to register, we store your email address and a hashed version of your password so you can sign in and keep track of the codes you have submitted. We do not send marketing email.

Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — providing the account you asked for.

2.3 Content you submit

Discount codes you submit, and the votes you cast, are stored and shown publicly as part of the service. They are associated with your anonymous or registered record, but your email address is never displayed alongside them.

2.4 Newsletters you forward to us

If you forward a marketing email to us so that discount codes can be extracted from it, we process the contents of that email for that purpose. The sender address, subject line and message body are sent to OpenAI, which acts as our processor for this; we rely on its standard terms and Standard Contractual Clauses for the transfer. Forwarded emails may contain personal data in their headers or body, so please do not forward anything you would not want processed this way. We keep them only as long as needed to extract codes and to investigate problems with that process.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by choosing to forward the email.

3. Cookies

We set two cookies, both strictly necessary for the service to function and therefore not subject to consent under the ePrivacy rules:

  • a long-lived signed session identifier, which is what makes voting and submitting possible without an account;
  • a short-lived Rails session cookie, set only when a flow needs to remember something across a redirect — for example the page to return you to after signing in. It expires when you close your browser.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking cookies, which is why you are not being asked to dismiss a banner.

4. Third parties who may see your IP address

We do not sell or share your data. However, some resources on our pages are loaded by your browser directly from third parties, which means those parties receive your IP address and basic request information:

  • Google — shop icons are loaded from Google's favicon service and web fonts from Google Fonts. Both are served from Google's servers in response to requests made by your browser.
  • Cloudflare — our content delivery network and proxy, which handles requests to the site.

Separately, and only for forwarded newsletters as described in section 2.4, we send the contents of those emails to OpenAI so that discount codes can be extracted from them. Nothing about your browsing of this site is sent to OpenAI.

These transfers may involve countries outside the European Economic Area, in which case they rely on the providers' own safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How long we keep things

  • Anonymous records and their sessions: kept indefinitely. We do not currently delete dormant ones automatically, and the identifier cookie is long-lived; clearing your browser data detaches you from the record, but does not erase it. We would rather say this plainly than describe a cleanup we have not built.
  • Account details: kept until you ask us to delete the account.
  • Discount codes and votes: kept as part of the public record of the site, including after a code expires.
  • Forwarded newsletters: kept only as long as needed to extract codes and diagnose problems.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict or object to how we process it, including processing based on legitimate interest;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).

To exercise any of these, write to [email protected]. Please note that if you have only ever used the site anonymously, we may be unable to identify which record is yours, and therefore unable to act on a request — clearing your browser data removes the cookie that links you to it.

7. Children

The service is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and material changes will be noted on the page itself.
